The Academy of Fine Arts offers students the opportunity to attend Spring School at Bauhaus University Weimar as part of the Erasmus+ program.

Online Phase: January/February 2026

In Class Phase: 12/03-21/03/2026

The Spring School offers 10 interdisciplinary courses in 4 different fields:

ARCHITECTURE | URBANISM

  1. 4 Pillars and a Roof?
  2. Collective forms of agriculture - Solidarity and grassroots democracy as a response to the interconnected climate and democracy crises
  3. Urban Heat Islands: Understanding the context of climatic, cultural and physical conditions in urban environments
  4. Ecological and Inclusive Urban Design

ART | DESIGN

  1. The Secret Life of Objects: Archiving and Storytelling through Everyday Things
  2. Design as Information: Narratives for Architectonic Research

CULTURE | MEDIA

  1. Ecological Aesthetics: How to Engage Aesthetically with Climate Crisis
  2. Augmented Present: how the screen swallowed us whole
  3. Structuring the Sea: Ships, Shores, Strata

ENGINEERING | ENVIRONMENT

  1. From FEM to Neural Operators: Scientific Machine Learning for Computational Mechanics

 

Students can take the courses free of charge and can apply for an Erasmus+ grant of 79€ per day. Nevertheless, there are additional costs, such as travel, food and health insurance.

APPLICATION:
 
The application to the Spring School is open to regular students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from the third semester of study. Preference will be given to students who have not yet spent time abroad.
 
Applications must be uploaded in the form of a PDF file (max. 10 MB) and should include the following elements:

PDF files are to be uploaded no later than Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 23:00.

 

To use the submission system you have to register once (if you do not have access yet). Please use your @student.akbild.ac.at address to identify yourself as a student. Login is NOT possible with the Akademie Online password, as this is a separate system.

 

PROCEDURE:

The selection of the participants takes place in a selection meeting where the mobility coordinators and the International Office decide on the international exchange.

The result will be announced by e-mail by the end of October at the latest.


We ask for serious applications only! Students who receive an acceptance and cancel without a valid reason will be blocked from all Academy mobility programs for one year.
