Cathrin Pichler Prize 2023

Honouring the thinker, curator, author, and teacher Cathrin Pichler, this prize will be awarded this year for the seventh time to a student or alumni_alumnae of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, who - in the sense of Cathrin Pichler - deals with specific artistic methods and practices as contribution and intervention to a scientific discourse. The prize is awarded for an existing artistic-scientific work/project.

 

Prize

The prize is endowed with € 2,500.- sponsored by the City of Vienna    city of vienna start page

The certificate will be awarded in the frame of a ceremony.

The jury consisting of Dorit Margreiter, Anette Baldauf, Verena Kaspar-Eisert, Manuela Ammer, Magdalena Stöger and Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein will select the prize winner.

 

Submission

Enrolled students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna as well as graduates who have completed their studies at the academy in the summer semester 2018* or later can submit their projects. The prize is awarded to an artistic-scientific project. (Qualification works such as diplomas, master theses or dissertation projects are excluded!)

Following documents must be submitted as PDF files with max. 5 MB and max. 30 pages:

  • Project: documentation of the submitted project
  • Portfolio: documentation of artistic-scientific work
  • CV

Films, videos, and sound works may be provided via link (Vimeo, YouTube; incl. password) in the application mask.

Incomplete applications will not be included in the selection procedure.

The Cathrin Pichler Archive for Art and Research contains her written legacy. It can be viewed prior arrangement at the Institute for Art and Cultural Studies of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1010 Vienna, Schillerplatz 3, Mezzanine Room M14a).

* Exception due to social reasons: Graduates who have completed their studies before summer semester 2018 may submit with proof of, e.g. years spent for childcare, disease or care for dependents etc.
