Gustav Peichl Award

The Gustav Peichl Award for Architectural Drawing was launched in 2014 on the initiative of the Gustav Peichl, Meisterschule“ of Architecture graduates with the support of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Society of Friends of Fine Arts, and private sponsors.

 

Objective

The Gustav Peichl Award for Architectural Drawing 2024 is intended to award outstanding architectural drawings by all regular Academy of Fine Arts Vienna students.

In addition to the graphic representation, the submitted works should convey the vision of a design concept, especially as a sketch. The focus of the drawing should be the visionary and seismographic content, which can lead to other analog or digital tools.

The submitted works should manifest the power of the creative process and the finest vibrations from the line to the room. The search for the indefinite in advance, the observation of the diverse and the analytical qualities of the author should be expressed.

 

Award

The award is endowed with EUR 4,000,-. It is the jury's responsibility to share the prize in justified cases. If no suitable awardee is found, the prize will not be awarded, and the money will be used for the next award. The award ceremony will be part of the annual closing ceremony in the Prospekthof” of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

 

Application

Application period: 12.03. to 07.05.2024

Submissions must meet the formal requirements to be considered.

In case of collective submission, please indicate in the application and name all applicants!

 

Necessary for application:

  1. Project proposal (file size: 5 MB)
  • Abstract of the project (700 characters incl. space character)
  • Project-related work samples: a maximum of three architectural sketches or drawings with an outstanding creative or experimental character, which relate reflexively to an advanced design stage in the visionary and research concept.
  1. Portfolio (file size: 5 MB with max. 10 pages)
  • Documentation of the previous artistic work (max. five works)
  1. Tabular curriculum vitae (CV)
