„Manifestation weltlicher und geistlicher Macht“ (manifestation of secular and spiritual power)

In cooperation with the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien and the Verein zur Generationenübergreifenden Kunst- & Kulturförderung (Association for the Promotion of Cross-Generational Art and Culture), the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is organising a call. Students of the Academy and graduates (who graduated from the Academy in 2016 or later) are invited to submit art pieces or projects to the theme „Manifestation weltlicher und geistlicher Macht“ (manifestation of secular and spiritual power). Entries may be submitted for works that correspond with at least one of the two works, either the "Reichskrone" (Imperial Crown from the Imperial Treasury) and/or the ivory relief of the "Wiener Gregorplatte ".

AWARD
There are three prizes of 3,000 euros each.
The jury will select three works from all submissions that will receive the prize money.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Verein zur Generationenübergreifenden Kunst- & Kulturförderung will then choose which award-winning submissions will be presented. In spring 2020, at least one and a maximum of three of the selected works will be exhibited in the Kunsthistorisches Museum. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication with the three award-winning works.

JURY
The winners of the competition will be selected by a jury of experts. The jury members are Dr. Sabine Haag (Director, Kunsthistorisches Museum), Mag. Birgit Kuras (Verein zur Generationenübergreifenden Kunst- & Kulturförderung) and Dr. Johanna Schwanberg (Director, Dom Museum Vienna) as well as Prof. Constanze Ruhm and Prof. Christian Schwarzwald (both Academy professors).

SUBMISSION
The submission should contain a proposal for an art work relating to one or both of the above works. In addition, the portfolio should contain an overview of the artistic work as well as a CV.
