Kunsthalle Wien Prize 2024

Deadline: Monday, Jun 17, 2024, 11:00am

The Kunsthalle Wien Prize seeks to promote a comprehensive dialogue on contemporary art and exhibition-making from the perspective of emerging artists who have recently graduated from Vienna’s renowned art institutes. Jointly organized by Kunsthalle Wien, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the University of Applied Arts Vienna for the tenth time, it is awarded annually by a jury of experts to a graduate of each of the art universities. The award is intended to support recent graduates, building a bridge between academic study and Kunsthalle Wien, as a public institution that seeks to bring contemporary art to a broader public.

The 2024 edition of the Kunsthalle Wien Prize will provide a platform for two artists. In addition to a € 3,000 prize, the recipients will have the opportunity to present their work in a two-person exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz in early 2025. The selected artists will receive a production budget and work closely with the curatorial team of Kunsthalle Wien to develop the presentation which is scheduled for January 2025. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication with accompanying texts by the curators. A public program of artist talks, guided tours and other events will be developed for the exhibition by Kunsthalle Wien’s art education team.

The price includes
- 3,000 Euros awarded to each of the two prize winners (one graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and one graduate of the University of Applied Arts)
- participation in a two-person exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz
- access to a limited budget supporting production costs and the development of new work
