The Rectorate is now opening the call for submissions for new, text-based volumes of the publication series of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The call is aimed at employees (including project staff) and students of the Academy.
The Publication Series of the Academy now comprises 26 volumes. Volumes 1-11 were published by Schlebrügge.Editor, volumes 12-26 by Sternberg Press. The series underwent a reorientation in 2021 and now has two forms: on the one hand, text-based paperbacks, and on the other hand, publications with more design freedom such as artists' books. Volumes 27-29 are currently in progress.
The advisory board with representatives from the institutes and the head of the library work together with the rectorate on the content orientation of the series. The advisory board members currently are: Johan Hartle, Carolin Bohlmann, Sabeth Buchmann, Sigrid Eyb-Green, Andreas Ferus, Elke Krasny, Angelika Schnell, Christian Schwarzwald and Ruth Sonderegger. The advisory board is complemented by an external jury, which - together with members of the advisory board - makes the selection from the submissions.
The current call is aimed at publications of which the manuscript is completed as far as possible for a timely start of production. Thematically, the call is open. The publisher is Sternberg Press.
The projects will be financed to the extent of editing, printing and layout costs. Costs such as authors' fees, translations or image rights are not covered. The jury reserves the right to support projects also with partial funding.
A connection of the submitted project to the Academy is required. Both volumes with editors and monographs can be submitted. The language of the publication series should remain primarily English. Submission of German-language publications is also possible. The jury meeting will be held at the end of September.
